Rio Ferdinand Gives Brutally Honest Assessment of Jack Wilshere's Loan Spell at Cherries

Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand has given his take on Jack Wilshere's time on loan with Bournemouth, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The talented midfielder has spent the season with the Cherries, after being loaned out from parent club Arsenal. While he showed glimpses of his promise earlier on in the season, Wilshere is now struggling to get into Eddie Howe's starting XI.

Ferdinand commented on Wilshere's decline, after he was omitted from Gareth Southagate's latest England squad, "'I think there's an element of embarrassment, coming from Arsenal and an England regular and then being sub at Bournemouth – no disrespect but it's not the same playing field as Arsenal.

"If you put yourself in his shoes you'll be thinking I might as well get myself back to Arsenal. He'll be thinking if I'm going to be sub here then I might as well be sub at Arsenal. Jack Wilshere has been spoken about as the next big thing for England so to come to Bournemouth and be subbed – that's not something that would have been on his agenda or his mind-set coming here.

"So disappointment and embarrassment – I'm sure he's got mixed emotions."

The 25-year-old will have to make a decision in regards to his future come the summer, once he returns to the Gunners.
